DEFRA

(Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs) is a government ministry.

They will have a big hand in rolling out any uniformed eco - green labelling system

DEFRA brought together a group of industry bodies in 1998 to make the GCC (The Green Claims Code). This is rather aged now but is still the best guidance available for the standardisation of green claims. (The Carbon Trust's standards are more up to date but only cover carbon foot printing)
